Water Softener Systems: Soft Water Benefits
Water softener systems or conditioners are units that softens water by removing minerals that cause the water to be hard. When water contains a high level of calcium and magnesium it is called hard water. Hard water creates several problems throughout your home that you probably have noticed. Hard water is a common reason for clogged pipes, complicating soap and detergent dissolving in your water, and leaving behind water spots.
Hard water creates a scale buildup inside your pipes and water using appliances dropping the efficiency of your water heater. In turn more energy gets used to heat your water which results in increased energy expenses. Soap is also inefficient in hard water because it reacts to form the magnesium or calcium of the organic acid of the soap.
Skin cleaned in hard water is usually reported as feeling itchy and dry as a result of the soap scum. Hair washed in hard water is noted as feeling dull and sticky. Some people may experience a few of these hard water results and some others may be accustomed to the feeling of their bedding, clothes, skin and hair after washing.
WHY USE A WATER SOFTENER SYSTEM
It is mostly important to protect your home with water softener systems to extend the lifespan of home appliances and pipes from clogging and scale buildup.
Hard water is sometimes treated with a water conditioner to reduce the downside of hard water. Water softeners are specific ion exchanges that are created to remove ions that are positively charged. Anti-scale systems convert calcium ions into calcium crystals which are stable and can’t attach to surfaces, pipes, hardware or other fixtures.
The crystals are so small they are swiftly rinsed away by the flow of the water. They are harmless, heat resistant, neutral and completely stable and won’t attach to any surfaces such as your pipes and heaters to cause lime deposits.
